On a cold stormy night on the 27th December 2013, I was at a Paddy Casey concert in Dublin selling Naked Calendars for The Girl Against Fluoride campaign. My friend Adrienne and a girl called Tara who I met at the concert asked me to come to the after party in Whelan’s. I was carrying a big oversized pink suitcase and wearing jeans and a pink hoodie. I was like “not a chance am I going with my big bag and wearing this”. The girl Tara was very insistent and kept saying you must come. Ok I will I said reluctantly as I wheeled my suitcase down the road on the way to the venue feeling a little silly.
I walked up the stairs bag in toe and spotted a big curtain beside the Christmas tree and went straight to hid it behind the curtain. I went to find my friends when all of a sudden this bearded man appeared out of nowhere and started talking to me very enthusiastically. I thought to myself is he mad or what? but something about him felt very familiar and the way he spoke about following his dreams as musician really intrigued my curiosity.
This bearded man called Richie turned out to be the love of my life and over the past few years we’ve helped each other to grow enormously to heal and grow. Richie proposed to me on bended knee on the 19th December 2016 and we’re committed to building our life together.
On today’s podcast we talk about ways we’ve helped each other in our conscious relationship. How we help each other move through our limiting beliefs, obstacles and constantly call each other to come to a higher level in life.
We talk about our plans and how we can fit each other into each others lives as we both are creating our individual businesses.
We feel surrounded by love and support no matter where we are in the world. This helps us navigate our times physically apart and gives us the momentum to keep creating our vision together.
I’m an Occupational Therapist and Richie is a Physiotherapist and we’re both following our paths into the unknown with music, holistic nutrition and writing.
Together we’ve learned that you can’t be focused on controlling the future. You only have 100% control on what you’re doing today. You take the next step and the future unfolds the way it’s meant to.
Conscious relationship to me is about crafting your relationship that’s suitable to your unique needs and life path. You’re coming from a conscious place. You have to give time and energy to the relationship, work through obstacles and release unhealthy dynamics you brought from your family.
Richie feels that you can put yourself under so much pressure to keep up with society’s expectations. For Richie conscious relationship is about the here and now, how can we build what we have in a way that best suits our lifestyles. Making each other happy is number 1 and being there in the hard times to support each other through what life is guiding us to experience.
Together we’re using the challenges as building blocks to move forward in life together. There’s a reason behind everything and we help each other to find that.
I helped Richie have confidence to share his story of growing up in an orphanage and having suffered abuse from his Mother.
Richie helped me to come through the worst time when my Mum was in a coma, when she passed away last year on 10th May and the aftermath of finding my feet without my beloved Mum.
Our vision for our future is to continue supporting each other to build our businesses and to raise a family together. Richie’s hoping for band members and I’d be happy to have 2 children. Let’s see how life unfolds to manifest our vision.
Now we’d love to hear from you. What are you doing in your relationship to make it conscious and supportive for your growth and healing? Share in the comments below!
